Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge
── Acoustic–Visual Integrated Monitoring Network (Completed in 2022)
The Pearl River Estuary is home to several small odontocete species and is a nationally protected Class I wildlife habitat. Over half of the world’s remaining Chinese white dolphins live here, making it the most important stronghold for this species. In 2022, the Administration of the Pearl River Estuary Chinese White Dolphin National Nature Reserve, together with our company and the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, jointly established the first real-time fixed-point acoustic–visual monitoring system for Chinese white dolphins. The system continuously monitors the number, distribution, activity patterns, and movement trajectories of Chinese white dolphins around the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge—addressing long-standing challenges in marine ecological protection, such as “invisible,” “insufficient,” and “unverifiable” monitoring outcomes.

Nanjing Protected Area
── Acoustic–Visual Integrated Monitoring Network (Completed in 2023)
Project Background
The Yangtze finless porpoise is the only freshwater odontocete species inhabiting the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China. It is classified as Critically Endangered (CR) by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).To strengthen the conservation, monitoring, and research of the species, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs established the Nanjing Yangtze Finless Porpoise Provincial Nature Reserve in Jiangsu Province. In order to monitor the behavior and movement patterns of the finless porpoise more precisely, the Nanjing Municipal Government partnered with the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and our company to deploy the advanced RPCD-A4 monitoring array system.Acoustic monitoring results are transmitted to and synchronized with visual monitoring equipment, enabling real-time monitoring of Yangtze finless porpoises in the Nanjing section of the river.

Junshan Protected Area
── Acoustic–Visual Integrated Monitoring Network (Completed in 2024)
Project Background
Located in the Dongting Lake region, the Junshan Yangtze Finless Porpoise Protected Area is one of the most critical core habitats for the species within the Yangtze River system. After the reserve introduced the real-time underwater acoustic monitoring system (acoustic monitoring) together with synchronous visual monitoring (UAV-based monitoring), a three-in-one intelligent monitoring mode combining “sound + image + positioning” was established. This integrated approach has significantly enhanced the ability to monitor the population dynamics, behavioral patterns, and mother–calf interactions of Yangtze finless porpoises.

Real-Time Towed Cetacean Detection
──2022 to Present
Project Background
Since 2022, the real-time towed odontocete detection system (RPCD-A2) has been widely deployed across the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River (monitoring Yangtze finless porpoises and East Asian finless porpoises); the waters of the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao region (monitoring Chinese white dolphins and false killer whales); and the Irrawaddy River (monitoring Irrawaddy dolphins). To date, the system has detected more than 5,000 cetacean groups, and over seven research institutions and scientific teams have adopted this technology for large-scale cetacean surveys.
